I can offer a way of thinking which combines the professional outlook with the lived experience of being highly gifted, with in it the acknowledgement of the innate limitations of the regular mental health field and some ideas on how to find your way beyond these barriers.
From my experiences in the medical field- including that of mental health- I have come to the conclusion that we are not adequately helping the group of (highly) gifted people with mental health complaints. There is a tendency to put labels on certain normal behaviourial patterns because of their intensity because they fall outside the scope of the average and even above average professional. The mental health system seems to be largely unaware of this, something I would love to help turn around.
