Call for questionnaire participants

We would like to share a call for participation in a questionnaire on parenting highly/profoundly gifted children by Mariët Hoeksma: (Dutch below the English text)

For my book on parenting highly-profoundly gifted children (IQ145+), I am conducting research into parents; a group who faces the unique talents and intensities of IQ145+ kids on a daily basis, but who we tend to forget in our caring of the children and their needs. I am researching how parents within this small but intense target group experience parenting and raising children with an IQ above 145 points: What do they consider the greatest challenge in raising these kids? What do they enjoy most in parenting them? How do they experience being an IQ145+ parent?
By completing my questionnaire, you would be helping me enormously. Thank you in advance! The questionaire can be found here.

Alvast bedankt! De vragenlijst vind je hier.

High Giftedness Wiki Launch (Dutch)

We would like to announce the launch of a wiki on the topic of high giftedness (IQ ≥ 145) for all ages. We believe it is implorable to garner attention for this subgroup of gifted individuals. For now this wiki is in Dutch only, though at a later stage we aim to release it for more languages. If you have trouble reading Dutch, we suggest using the translate option in your browser.

The wiki can be found in the side menu of our website or at this link: https://highgiftedness.org/wiki. There is a team of editors that reviews every contribution and makes sure the wiki’s contents is as reliable and relevant as possible. You can find the editors at the Team page.

A wiki is a dynamic knowledge repository which relies on contributions from various authors. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please let us know via the form at the contact page.

Trouw opinion piece

Recently in the Dutch newspaper Trouw a news article appeared in which the Dutch Secretary of State of Foundational Education and Emancipation lamented on the “lawlessness” of home schooling in the Netherlands (Trouw, 8-4-2025). Several members of our research group wrote an opinion piece (Trouw, 24-4-2025) responding to the first article, giving context on the homeschooling situation in the context of highly gifted children. For those children homeschooling is often the only option left.
